Let’s help María Parada get urgent medical care in Venezuela

WHO IS MARÍA

María Parada is

A 70-year-old woman, born in Galicia, Spain, who migrated to Venezuela with her parents and siblings when she was young.

Throughout her life, she has lived in Spain and Venezuela, and studied in both countries.  She returned to Galicia during her youth for family-related reasons, and later moved to Venezuela, where she concluded her university studies, raised her family and became a mother and, later, a grandmother.

María, who currently lives in Venezuela, has always been proactive, studious, hardworking, family-oriented and brave, and she has lived by these values her whole life.

Today, she’s enduring a delicate health condition, which requires urgent medical care, specialized medical assessments and medical treatment. Due to the current situation in her country, this care can only be given private settings, with high costs that are very difficult to bear.

LET’S HELP MARÍA PARADA GET URGENT MEDICAL CARE IN VENEZUELA

MARÍA’S MEDICAL HISTORY (SUMMARY)

01

2023 – 2024

María was diagnosed with high-grade serous papillary ovarian carcinoma.

Given the impossibility of receiving adequate treatment in Venezuela, her family made a tremendous effort to transfer her to Argentina in May 2024, where she underwent:

– Colostomy
– Total hysterectomy
– Bilateral oophorectomy
– Chemotherapy and maintenance treatment

02

2024 – 2025

The oncological treatment concluded in October 2025, with studies indicating clinical stability. The only pending procedure was the colostomy reversal.

Due to administrative issues and legal identity documentation, this surgery could not be performed in Argentina, so María returned to Venezuela at the end of November 2025.

Once in Venezuela, she went to the University Hospital of Caracas to undergo medical tests for the colostomy reversal, and abdominal masses were detected.

MARÍA PARADA NEEDS HELP TO RECEIVE URGENT MEDICAL CARE IN VENEZUELA

Let’s help María Parada by donating through GoFundMe so she can receive urgent medical care in Venezuela.

CURRENT SITUATION OF MARÍA PARADA

Multiple abdominal masses are preventing mobility

After returning to Venezuela and undergoing medical check-ups at the University Hospital of Caracas, four abdominal masses were detected, which have increased in size over the past few months.

This situation has caused:

– Intense and constant pain
– Severe anemia
– Kidney impairment
– Very limited mobility

Inability to move

The masses are pressing on the groin area and a nerve in her right leg, preventing her from walking and forcing her to keep her leg bent due to the pain.

Inconclusive biopsy report

A recent biopsy showed necrotic tissue, so the final diagnosis is still under evaluation and further urgent medical tests are required.

Current Situation in Venezuela

The healthcare system in Venezuela is severely collapsed.
At present:

– There is no timely access to specialized studies
– Blood transfusions are not guaranteed
– Oncological treatments must be obtained privately
– Medical costs are extremely high

All the care María needs must be paid for privately, something her family cannot afford without external support.

Use of Funds

What will the donations be used for?

The goal of this campaign is to raise €15,000, which will be used progressively to cover:
– Urgent laboratory tests
– Blood transfusions to stabilize her levels (her hemoglobin is currently 7 g/dL, which is a critical level)
– Medications and treatments prescribed by specialists. (Doctors are conducting studies to apply chemotherapy or radiotherapy to reduce the abdominal masses and help María regain mobility)
– Imaging studies (CT scans)
– Specialized medical consultations
– Short-term hospitalization, if needed, due to her inability to move because of chronic pain, in order to avoid constant transfers.

The funds will be used as they are collected, always prioritizing María’s stabilization, pain relief, and mobility recovery.
